Performance Rugby League Tackle Bag

£249.00

The Performance Rugby League Tackle Bag is part of The GSI Performance Technical Training Range and can be used in isolation or as part of the full system of products. This piece of equipment has been specifically designed to isolate several different collision techniques all in one training aid.

The Performance Rugby League Tackle Bag is made from a high-density foam and has a PVC cover. There are 3 added features that allow the coach and player to practise key “Collision” techniques, these include:

  • ball holder and strap for attaching a ball to the bag at the front
  • ‘grip’ bars that recreate the positioning of the ball carriers’ arms and elbow, which run from the bag shoulder to under the ball. This allows tacklers to work on various grip and pressure points within the tackle technique
  • specific targets on the bag to develop tackler entry point connection and accuracy

The Performance Rugby League Tackle Bag can help with individual and multiple player tackle preparation, connection and finish.

Ball not included.

Different defensive tackle sequences can be developed.
  • As a coach, get your player(s) to approach the bag from different angles and speeds – also give the player different targets to connect with, challenging player height and entry. Do not always give the player a straight approach to the bag i.e. hit ground and up, hit ground and roll then back to feet, get the player to evade you then make the hit.
  • You can work on a straight hit or fatigue the player first then carry out different techniques so that it puts the player’s skills under pressure.
  • As a coach, look for speed of movement of the player getting back to their feet and into defensive line after the tackle. If you are working a double or triple player tackle technique, make sure as a coach your tacklers leave the tackle contest in the correct sequence.
